STEP 1
Be absolutely clear what your business is about. Then make sure that everything you say and do with your prospects and customers expresses what you are about consistently and completely.
It’s often said that a business is franchiseable is one where someone can learn about the business quickly and easily.
A better question to ask yourself is “What is it about the way I do things that makes my business better than the competition?”
If someone can learn your business quickly and easily then it’s easy to copy your business, and you could end up with lots of ‘me too’ versions of your business.
It’s not what you do that matters, it’s how you do it and the vision behind how you do it – and that comes from you, the owner, founder and ‘heart and soul’ of your business.
That’s what makes your business different from and better than your competitors. That’s what makes it hard for your competitors to beat you – even when they try and copy you.
And that’s what you have to capture and replicate to build a successful chain.
